minutesI have made layered dessert bars like this many times, especially when I need something quick, reliable, and guaranteed to impress. Over time, I have tested different ingredient combinations and baking times to get the perfect balance of texture and flavor in every layer.
This recipe is one I trust because it comes together easily but delivers rich, satisfying results. It starts with a buttery graham cracker crust, followed by sweetened condensed milk, and then layers of coconut, chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, and crunchy walnuts.
Each layer adds something better than the last, creating a dessert that is both simple and incredibly delicious. I have made this for family gatherings and casual treats, and it always gets finished fast.
If you want a no-fuss dessert that bakes in one pan and turns out perfectly every time, this is a recipe you can count on.
Ingredients
1/2 cup butter (1 stick)
1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1 – 14 oz can of Sweetened Condensed Milk (not evaporated)
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 cups of butterscotch chips
1 1/3 cups flaked coconut
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees (325 for glass dish). Place butter in 9 x 13 pan and melt in the oven.
- Sprinkle the graham cracker crumbs over margarine, mix and pat down flat. pour condensed milk over crumbs.
- Layer the other ingredients evenly in the order it is listed. Press down firmly.
- Bake for 25 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool and cut into bars. Store loosely covered at room temperature. Makes 24-36 bars.
Notes
- You can always swap out the flavor of the chips depending on your preference. If you would rather use white chocolate instead of semi or all semi instead of butterscotch, it can be made according to your taste.
