Do you find it hard to resist the warm nuts at the checkout of Cabela’s? Well, I can relate to that. But, worry not! These oven-roasted spice maple pecans will satisfy your cravings and taste even better when straight out of the oven. Making them is a breeze and you can have them ready in less than half an hour.

I usually purchase the pecans from Costco because they offer the best price for a large bag. These pecans are a perfect grazing snack to serve when you have guests over. You can store them in a glass jar or a plastic container and serve them while sitting around and chatting. Trust me, nobody can resist them. Moreover, these pecans make for a great gift during the holiday season. Place them in a mason jar, tie a decorative ribbon on it, and you are all set.

You will be amazed at how easy they are to make, and they will become a new favorite of your family and friends.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups pecan halves

  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup

  • 1/4 cup maple syrup

  • 3 tbsp sugar

  • 1 tsp ground cumin

  • 2 tsp sweet paprika

  • 1 tsp chili powder

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spread pecan halves on a baking sheet and bake until lightly roasted, about 8 minutes.
  • While roasting the nuts, combine corn and maple syrup in a measuring cup. Set aside.
  • In a separate bowl, combine sugar, cumin, paprika, chili powder, salt, and cayenne pepper. Set Aside.
  • When the 8 minutes of roasting is finished, remove the pan from the oven. Pour the syrup mixture on the nuts and combine them all to ensure all of the pecans are well and evenly coated. Return to the oven for 10 more minutes.
  • Pour nuts into a large bowl and mix with the sugar/spices to ensure all pecans are coated. Spread out a sheet of parchment paper and spread out pecans to cool. Break apart any that are stuck together.

Notes

  • Make sure to store in an air-tight container.
