minutesCheese balls are the perfect party food! They are a great appetizer or snack for every get-together. They can be made in advance and don’t need to be heated or cooked. This recipe contains white cheddar cheese, cream cheese, onion, and chives. Four simple ingredients make for an amazing appetizer. Serve with a side of your favorite cracker or veggies for a low-carb option and this recipe will be your new go-to appetizer for company at your house or when you’re invited to a friend or family member’s home.
Ingredients
8 oz white cheddar cheese, grated
8 oz cream cheese, room temp
1/4 cup yellow onion, diced
1 package chives, cut in small pieces
Directions
- Mix the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, and diced onion in a food processor or electric mixer until fluffy.
- Line a small bowl with plastic wrap so there is extra hanging over the sides. Put the cheese mixture into the plastic wrap-lined bowl. Cover the cheese.
- Place into the fridge to chill for 2 hours until it is cold and firm.
- Using kitchen sheers, cut the chives into 1/4-inch pieces. Spread onto a cutting board.
- Remove cheese wrapped in plastic wrap. While it is still wrapped in the plastic wrap, form a ball. Unwrap the cheese and roll it around on the chives until completely covered.
- Place on a serving plate or cutting board and serve with crackers or veggies. I place a cheese spreader on the top of the cheese ball for serving so the crackers and veggies do not break into the cheese Ball.
